Vibration Meter: Measure Earthquake and Body Tremors
Vibration Meter is a free Android app that uses the phone’s sensors to measure vibration or earthquake and display a reference as a seismic detector. The app can measure vibration on the Richter scale and the modified Mercalli intensity scale. To calibrate the app, users need to click on the “Calibrate” button, place the device on a flat surface, and wait for about 20 seconds until the value stabilizes.
The app shows reference to earthquake vibrations as classified by the internationally used Mercalli intensity scale. The Mercalli intensity scale is used for measuring the intensity of an earthquake, and Vibration Meter can also be called a seismograph or seismometer when used for measuring seismic activity. The app also provides information on the effects of an earthquake. Some countries use the Richter scale instead of the Mercalli scale. With Vibration Meter, users can check vibrations with their phone, making it a useful tool for measuring body tremors and earthquake activity.
