A Vampire Game Based in a Distressed City
Vampyr is a vampire-based game where you are set out to save London from vampires and their atrocities.
Gameplay Setting
Vampyr is a vampire game based in 20th-century London. Britain is clearly hurt by the deadly Spanish flu, with London’s streets being crippled by violence, disease, and fear. In a ghostly and disorganised city, citizens walking the streets out of desperation or sheer foolishness are falling prey to vampires, the country’s most elusive predators. As the player, you would be portraying the part of Jonathan Reid, who is a military surgeon turned into a vampire. Vampyr is a dark yet captivating third-person adventure game set to release in 2018. You would be exploring the dark 20th century London streets and will get rolling with multiple characters having their unique significance and identities. You would be accepting and fulfilling missions but would also end up preying to satiate your vampire lust.
Conscious Monster
According to Stephane Beauverger, the director of the game’s narrative, the game tries to explore the twofold vampire myth. The vampire is conscious, sporting black jeans and a leather jacket, along with an almost face-hiding beard and ponytail. Unlike a zombie or a werewolf, the vampire is intelligent and emotional too. The sharp conflicts of a vampire’s personality are being used in the game to explore ideas such as morality. While the game has combat, the game is definitely not trying to be a typical depiction of a vampire’s power and ability.
