Open-world action game with parkour mechanics
Urban Explorer is a premium action game for PC developed by Pyramid Games. In this open-world adventure, players will be traversing a post-apocalyptic wasteland as they discover new locations and collect new resources while avoiding being detected and caught by security guards and drones.
Similar to the likes of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst and Ghostrunner, Urban Explorer’s gameplay is all about fast-paced movements and transitions throughout. Traversal in the game was built around and features parkour mechanics that allows players to perform various jumps and aerial maneuvers to overcome platforming obstacles and challenges.
From rooftop to rooftop
Urban Explorer is a first-person exploration game set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with abandoned buildings, top-secret facilities, and old ruins waiting to be discovered. In it, you play as a would-be explorer looking to traverse this vast wasteland in search of loot, secrets, and everything else in between. Suffice it to say, you’ll constantly be on the move throughout the entire time you’ll be playing.
This is where its core gameplay mechanic comes into play. You’ll be presented with plenty of platforming obstacles and challenges, and you will be relying on your parkour skills to overcome them. Gather and study intel on potential locations to prepare yourself and upgrade your gear to deal with various dangers you will encounter along the way. You can even take pictures to document your excursions.
There will also be instances when you’ll encounter some surviving inhabitants who will oftentimes be unwelcoming, even hostile and downright life-threatening if you’re so unlucky. Now, if what you’ve read about the game interests you, there will be some time left before you can actually play it. It’s not out yet and there is no exact release date to speak of either.
Stay on the move
All in all, Urban Explorer is an interesting open-world action game that allows for a good level of exploration. It features a vast city to explore, as well as hidden locations and loot to discover. There’s not much to go on when it comes to its story, though, but at least the gameplay and traversal look fun with its parkour mechanics.
