Free and easy car game with shiny graphics
Underground Crew 2 Drag Racing is a free racing mobile video game that allows you to compete in drag races, just like in the Fast & Furious film franchise. Developed by Hammerhead Studio, this game’s full title is Paul Walker’s Underground Crew 2 and has elements reminiscent of the actor’s popular racing movies. Just like most racing games, this one allows enables you to collect cars and race against both AI and real players.
Great car models
When you start the app, you’ll immediately be introduced to your Garage, which contains your current car. You can select Go Underground to access missions, Multiplayer to race against other random players, Cop Smash Mode to have the police as your opponents, and My Garage to customize your car and check out your collection. Note that you won’t automatically be prompted for a user account.
In terms of graphics, the game features realistic 3D models of the cars, which makes customizing them highly entertaining. You can change the vinyl, neon lights, and body paint for a visual upgrade—and even amp up the engine and RMP for a performance upgrade. The gameplay is pretty bland, however, as you just need to tap the gas pedal and time it right when the meter hits the green portion to get boosts in speed.
There’s not much racing to be found here with this type of gameplay. The track is just a straight road and your key to winning is having higher stats and perfectly timing all speed boosts. The multiplayer mode strangely pits you against advanced players and Cop Smash gives the enemy great advantage in speed. The game is also riddled with ads that can freeze your post-match screen.
Gameplay is lacking
All in all, Underground Crew 2 Drag Racing looks great for any racing enthusiast but it actually lacks substance. The so-called racing is just accelerating at the right moment and watching as your car gets driven for you. The other game modes aren’t creative and just push you to buy more upgrades. Plus, you will constantly get ads after every match. Its gameplay isn’t for every racing fan.
