WW2-themed horror adventure game
UNDER is a free adventure title for PC by indie developer SolitaryStudios. It’s a first-person horror game that is set during WW2. In it, players awaken in the middle of WW2, with no recollection and other people. They must explore a dark underground cave to find answers and a way out.
Similar to Evil Nun: The Broken Mask, UNDER features a dark and atmospheric presentation that is creepy and unsettling as players explore the dark underground cavern that they find themselves in. It also boasts supernatural elements and plenty of jump scares to keep everyone on their toes all throughout.
Dark and alone
In UNDER, you play as a soldier who mysteriously awakens inside an underground cavern during WW2. You have no idea what happened or how you got there. What’s more, your comrades have seemingly vanished and are nowhere to be found. You now have to explore and find your way out of this dark place and discover the truth of your predicament.
This horror-adventure game is played in first-person perspective for a more immersive experience. Despite its dark and creepy presentation, it offers some rather impressive visuals, with highly detailed graphics for the structures and lighting effects. You will be going up stairways and delving deeper into darker areas of the map as you search for clues as to why the other disappeared and the exit.
As you progress further, you’ll slowly realize that you’re not as alone as you think, and this is where the horror aspect of the game kicks in. You’ll have chance encounters with creatures that will come at you and prevent you from escaping. Now, a typical playthrough will depend on how you play and pace yourself but expect it to be a short experience all the same.
Survive one nightmare into the next
In summary, UNDER is an interesting horror adventure game with nice graphics and a curious premise. It’s creepy, atmospheric, and will serve up plenty of scares for fans of the genre. While the experience of the gameplay is on the short side, it’s a title that’s well worth checking out and playing if you have some time to spare. Recommended.
