Arrange your notes, calendar and alarms
Anything that can help me organize my life better is a welcome addition to my Mac. uCalendarX attempts to provide all the essentials in one lightweight, user-friendly application. uCalendarX is ideal for those who need to keep track of their appointments and meetings, birthdays, and for activating alarms and reminders for upcoming events. There are four different display modes – calendar week view, general overview, timeline view and landscape view, which lists your events eye-catching columns. You can also color-code uCalendarX for easy identification of your most important tasks and appointments. You can customize the colors you use and search the calendar for certain events.
If you’ve got an event that runs over several days, you can drag a ‘banner’ across them and label it using text and a color. uCalendarX can also send regular events and reminders to iCal if you prefer to use that for appointments.
While uCalendarX is good for what it is – a very lightweight and basic personal management application – I found it a bit frustrating when adding entries. It would be nice, as in Google Calendar, if when entering an event, the text box was enlarged so you can see exactly what you’re writing. As it is, the text is rather small and you have to squint to make sure the entry is correct.
All in all however, uCalendarX is a very solid little application that’s a great start for anyone who has never used a personal organizer on the Mac.
