Free Fallout 4 storm system overhaul
True Storms: Wasteland is a free Fallout 4 mod that lets you improve the weather system in the base game. You’ll find better sound effects for storms, heavier rain, new particle effects, and upgraded dust storms. The developer also enjoys adding on new items from time to time, such as the Harbor extension.
If you enjoy being stealthy, the improved weather system adds a sneak buff when it rains. There are also new radiation and fog effects that were lacking in the game before. It’s a welcome attempt to add some realism to Fallout 4’s outdated graphics. If you enjoy mods like these, also try Weaponsmith Extended, We Are The Minutemen, and CyberOut Animation for Beam Katana.
New storm and weather overhaul
While Fallout 4 had legendary graphics when it launched on PS4, PC, and Xbox One, not all of the elements look as good as they used to in retrospect. True Storms: Wasteland created a complete overhaul of the weather system, giving you surreal visual and audio changes that improve how it looks on the game. After you install the mod, you’ll need to play two holotapes to select the storm effect you want to apply.
Types of rain
There are many rain and storm effects you can apply to the game, which can add some excitement to Fallout 4. Among the list of effects in True Storms: Wasteland are radiation, heavy rains, thunder, fork and sheet lightning, and strong gale winds. Of course, these aspects will have an effect on gameplay, especially with the movement and what you see and hear.
Fallout 4 system requirements
If you just want to add the storm effects, you can get away with simply having the base Fallout 4 game. However, there are some mod patches that apply to add-ons. For example, you’ll need Carrot Plantation For Convicts if you want to see the added fog effects, and GingasVR’s Reverb and Ambiance Overhaul if some of the storm sounds feel strange.
It’s going to be a stormy day
True Storms: Wasteland is an incredible mod if you want to have a realistic storm and weather system added to Fallout 4. However, the developer mentions you should back up your saved data to prevent any potential loss after installing the mod.
