Total Chess Endgames 1600-2400 ELO: An in-depth course on endgame strategies
Total Chess EndgamesELO is an Android-based application developed by Chess King. The course is composed by GM Alexander Panchenko and aims to teach the intricacies of the endgame through a theoretical section, which includes over 600 games/lectures, each of them illustrating theoretical and practical endgame methods, and a training section, with more than 2400 endgame exercises classified according to 500 endgame themes. The material is written by IM ICCF Alexander Alpert.
The program acts as a coach, giving tasks to solve and helping users to solve them if they get stuck. It provides hints, explanations, and even shows striking refutations of the mistakes made by the user. The program also includes a theoretical section, which explains the methods of the game in a certain stage of the game, based on actual examples. The theory is presented in an interactive way, which means users can not only read the text of the lessons but also make moves on the board and work out unclear moves. The application is adapted to the bigger screen of a tablet and does not require an internet connection. The free version of the course includes fully functional lessons that allow users to test the application in real-world conditions before purchasing the full course.
