Android port of the revamped Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider is the Android version of the 2013 reimagined Lara Croft title. More gritty and realistic than previous releases, the game features the female explorer lost on an island filled with dangerous inhabitants with only her will to survive.
New direction
After a series of successful action platformers released for the PlayStation, Lara Croft became a serious action star in 2013. Gone were the skimpy clothes and unrealistic acrobatics, replaced by gritty immersion. The game plays more like Uncharted or The Last of Us with more restrictive set-piece segments and a focus on upgrades and conversion of tools. Tomb Raider is an Android version requiring the SHIELD streaming device and associated controller. The port is true to the award-winning 2013 version, containing the full game of the year edition, solid visuals and challenging puzzles which made it such a great revamped Lara Croft game. While the user base of SHIELD may be relatively small at the moment, this is a solid choice to release on the device showing the potential to come.
All-rounder
Tomb Raider brings the daring adventurer into the modern world with a more serious tone and a gripping story. Fans of adventures titles will find some decent action while more puzzle-oriented players will experience some tricky optional extras. A fantastic port of a fantastic game.
