Create your story with this mobile game
Toca Life: School is an adorable digital simulation playset developed by Toca Boca. Free to play, this game depicts a school campus with five interactive locations: school, cafeteria, playground, youth club, and a house. Here, players can become the directors of their stories as they create scenarios.
Toca Life: School is the third installment of the Toca Life series, following Toca Life: City and Toca Life: Town. Like its predecessors, it provides an open-ended mini-world for players to explore. There is no right way to interact with this app, allowing you to do pretty much whatever you want.
Explore your school
In Toca Life: School, the players become the directors of the stories they create. As the name suggests, it takes you to a school, where you have five locations that you can explore. Each of these places has various props that you can pick up and move around. Moreover, there are also 32 characters that you can interact with and use for the scenario you have in mind.
The 32 characters represent different ages and backgrounds. There are even a few pets and monsters that you can add to make your scene interesting. Unlike the previous two Toca Life games, the characters here are all new. Moreover, while the scene starts with characters in them, you have the option to add, remove, or swap them mid-game. You can do so by tapping the yellow button at the bottom.
The life simulation game takes the fun even more by providing a recording feature, which lets you organize your story. However, updates for the game have been scarce, making the options sparse. It also hurts that there are no custom options offered. And although it lets you play however you want—without a time limit and high score to think of—the repetitive gameplay makes it bland over time.
Should you play it?
Overall., Toca Life: School is a casual game you can play if you like playing dress-up and creating stories. Here, you have the freedom to write your own scenario using the characters you want. There is no wrong way to play it, and there is no pressure of time limit and high score. However, over time, the lack of variety and other game modes can make the experience boring.
