New way to play Tiberium Wars
Tiberium Essence Mod is a free-to-use utility created by Carnius for the RTS video game Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. This mod makes major changes to the base game, offering alternate gameplay with a heavier emphasis on Tiberian Sun units, which many fans of Command and Conquer sorely missed.
The story is the same in Tiberium Essence, but the Global Defense Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod never abandoned the technologies they used in the Tiberian Sun era. Released in 2008, this modification has continued to receive updates from its developer throughout the years.
A focus on Tiberian Sun
Tiberium Essence Mod is a massive mod that adds plenty of new units players can play around with. This mod doesn’t change how the main campaign plays out, but it significantly alters how players will play through it. With this mod installed, the Global Defense Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod continued to use the armaments they relied on during the Tiberian Sun era.
The mod adds many Tiberian Sun units such as the GDI Orca Bomber, GDI Wolverine, Nod Banshee, Nod Cobra Artillery, Alien Manta, and Ghost Stalker. Moreover, it introduces plenty of tweaks to existing units. The Scorpion Tank MK II has been remodeled and given a new ability. The Dropship Bay has also been remodeled, replacing the Space Command uplink. Also, the Guardian Cannon has been replaced by the RPG Tower.
Coming with these new units are dozens of new visual and sound effects and balancing changes. For instance, the Nod Cobra Artillery now has 10% more health and 15% more firepower while the Nod banshee now has 15% more health and more rounds per clip. However, despite these changes, the mod still needs plenty of balancing improvements. Some units can still feel overpowered or underwhelming.
Is it worth installing?
If you played Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun and loved the units it featured, then Tiberium Essence Mod is worth installing. It brings your favorite Tiberian Sun units to Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars in a way that doesn’t affect the main campaign. However, you should keep in mind that the mod still needs buffs, nerfs, and many other tweaks to become a truly balanced experience.
