Solve the mystery of the strange dungeon
Through a Glass Darkly is a free role-playing tabletop game that lets you journey through a mysteriously abandoned dungeon. Developed by Martin Gehrke, this dungeon add-on is an independent production based on the MÖRK BORG tabletop game. With it, you can explore a new unique area in your MÖRK BORG campaign with your friends. This game is not affiliated with the developers of MÖRK BORG but is published under its third-party license.
Take a little detour
MÖRK BORG is a pitch-black apocalyptic fantasy RPG wherein everything is bleak and devoid of hope, but there’s still something you can do about your remaining time alive. Developed by Ockult Örtmästare Games and Stockholm Kartell, this is a popular Old-School Renaissance (OSR) tabletop that can be played as is or be picked apart to create your own homebrew. It’s compatible with most of the TTRPG editions around and encourages different original content based on it.
Through a Glass Darkly is one of these and is a small TPK (Total Party Kill) dungeon that you can add to your campaign setting—most especially if it’s MÖRK BORG or one that you designed after the aforementioned RPG. There’s not a lot of new stuff included in this dungeon add-on since it’s fully based on another game. However, you’ll find that it’s just as flexible as the former, customizable with enemies, traps, and rewards.
Take note that this game contains PDF documents rather than an EXE program, so you have to either print them out or display them on mobile devices. This comes with two separate files: a simple text document containing the Inversion Notes and a beautiful 2-page spread of the dungeon map. It’s advised that you use this document alongside MÖRK BORG’s own ruleset, as any rules not modified here must be assumed unchanged from that game’s core rules.
Great for a side quest
All in all, Through a Glass Darkly is a highly-versatile game add-on that you can infuse in your campaign on your own terms. Whether you bring in NPCs or change some of the rules, this game can easily adapt and be shaped to what you and your friends are looking for. While you will still have to use the MÖRK BORG ruleset alongside it, this is still a highly recommended adventure to try out.
