Retro ARPG dungeon crawling game for PC
The Slormancer is a premium action game for PC made by Slormite Studios. It is an ARPG dungeon crawler that boasts retro pixel graphics and will have players take control of an unlikely group of misfits to stop an evil warlock from destroying the world.
Just like Children of Morta or Minecraft: Dungeons, The Slormancers offer multiple character classes to choose from to suit different playstyles, and lets players customize them however they want. It also features procedurally generated levels across various biomes, each with its own unique set of enemies to face and defeat.
Blast from the past
The Slormancer takes place in a world wherein an evil warlock from the past known as Slormaner has reemerged to invade and try to rule the realm once again. You play as a nobody with no prospects to speak of, yet somehow, you end up becoming humanity’s last hope who will save them from certain doom. Thus, begins an adventure that’s as fun as it is absurd.
There are three character classes in this game to choose from. Take your pick from a Knight, Huntress, or Mage, with over 200 unique skills, passives, and upgrade for each one. This is paired with an equally staggering 120 weapons to equip and bring to battle. You can also tap into ancient powers that grant you access to more than 150 elemental skills and abilities.
Then, there is the countless loot that ranges from normal to legendary items featuring unique attributes and stats. You can even upgrade them as many times as you want. One thing to note, though, is that the game is still in early access and active development is ongoing. This status is evident in the game itself, which currently is a little thin on content and things to do.
From zero to hero
It’s safe to say that the story is not The Slormancer’s strong point, and it revels in that fact. To make up for the lack of any decent narrative, you get an action RPG that offers plenty of character customization, nonstop action, and absurd humor to boot. Once the content catches up, it will really open up and be a lot of fun to experience.
