Find the Major’s nose
The Nose is an indie game created by Three Percent Games. In this game, players will have an adventure inside a book. Your goal: help Major Kovalev find his missing nose. You have to do so by exploring the city of St. Petersburg.
The Nose is an interactive game that will have you complete missions in order to complete your goal. It is set in an open-world city and comes with little games with meaningful content. However, you will have to see past the subpar graphics to appreciate the game. Not to mention, the badly written story.
Become as lost as the Major’s nose
The Nose is a story-driven game adapted from one of Gogol’s stories. As mentioned, the game is set in the city of St. Petersburg. It happened on the 25th of March when Major Kovalev woke up to find his nose missing. It is now up to the player to help him find it by completing missions. To help him is the narrator, who will narrate the story as you play.
However, despite the presence of the narrator, you will still find yourself confused. The game isn’t very good at telling you what you’re supposed to do. Additionally, the map isn’t very well done. You’ll find yourself lost while you’re exploring. To make matters worse, the camera shifts to above you, with no real information about the city. It also doesn’t help that the controls are very awkward.
However, what makes the game so problematic is the presentation of the story itself. The game is set in old Russia. However, the developer fails to write the narration consistently, with the tone and the writing shifting between archaic and modern. Additionally, there are tons of glaring grammar issues that make the story incoherent. Finally, the game is almost entirely narrated, which makes it boring.
Not worth the bucks
Overall, The Nose offers players a funny and unique premise. However, it is not enough to make the game fun to play for a long time. The storytelling alone comes with tons of issues that can distract players. The writing is not that good, and the narrator fails to help you understand what you should do as a player. The entire app is also a glitchy bugger.
