A hidden object adventure
The Mystery of the Crystal Portal is a hidden object adventure game, originally released for the PC. Follow journalist Nicole Rankwist as she embarks on an adventure to find her lost father.
Each screen of The Mystery of the Crystal Portal contains objects to interact with. What’s interesting here is that some objects are containers for a series of other objects that must be found to unlock or reveal further puzzles. Tapping a container object opens a circle of new objects you have to collect.
The Mystery of the Crystal Portal has lots of well drawn and attractive environments. In this iOS version players can pinch to zoom in, which is useful on smaller screens. There’s a hint system, which is great when you really can’t see an object. There are some things which really are hard to spot, although it wouldn’t be a hidden object game otherwise.
The touch controls in The Mystery of the Crystal Portal could be slightly better implemented. The slow speed of the pop ups can take a little getting used to, which can result in some annoying mistakes. Otherwise, The Mystery of the Crystal Portal is an engaging anc challenging game perfect for fans of the hidden object genre.
The Mystery of the Crystal Portal is an engaging and fun hidden object game that does well to keep the gameplay interesting and fresh.
