Journey into a thrilling mech-run world

The Library of Babel is a premium 2D game from Tanuki Game Studio that fuses the elements of a stealth-based platformer with the richness of graphic adventure gaming. Unfolding in the wild and futuristic jungles of Babylon, the game delves into the puzzle behind the sudden lockdown of the Library of Babel and the mythical creators responsible for it.

The game’s post-apocalyptic concept shares striking parallels with other mech-driven titles, such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Project Lazarus. In The Library of Babel, intricate machines have risen to power and run the societal construct—20,000 years after the downfall of humanity.

Welcome to the dystopian future

Drawing inspiration from Jorge Luis Borges’ acclaimed short story of the same name, The Library of Babel centers around the discovery of a vast library that holds every written piece, covering the entirety of human history and the future. However, this momentous finding sets the stage for chaos to ensue. In the game, players will assume the role of Ludovik, a Seeker entrusted with investigating a perplexing murder in Babylon.

When an unforeseen state of emergency is abruptly declared, Ludovik finds himself navigating treacherous terrains and constantly escalating danger as he follows the trail of the murderer and uncovers the mysteries behind the Library’s lockdown. In keeping with Ludovik’s character, the game emphasizes agility and stealth over brute force. Combining philosophical and sci-fi themes, the game offers thought-provoking questions about the nature of existence and the limits of human understanding.

In the visual aspect, the game boasts a stunning world, which is a juxtaposition of overgrown jungles and futuristic landscapes. Aside from the beautifully depicted hand-drawn 2D environments, the game also features dialogue and inventory management systems that are influenced by the graphic adventure games from the 1990s. It must be emphasized, however, that the game contains extremely violent scenes not suitable for younger players.

Truly absorbing gameplay

The Library of Babel transcends traditional gaming genres by seamlessly blending stealth platformer and graphic adventure elements. With its emphasis on agility and stealth, it offers a refreshing alternative to mainstream action-driven games. Additionally, the game’s thought-provoking narrative, inspired by a literary classic, invites players to contemplate profound questions about existence and knowledge. Overall, the game is a thrilling and intellectually stimulating adventure for players.
