총을 든 카우보이 도마뱀으로 게임을 즐기세요.

THE GAMBLER is a free roguelike shooter from developer lamedeveloper. Set in the Wild West, you control a cowboy lizard shooting frogs using a magical revolver. This roguelike action video game has randomized levels, making every run unique from the other.

THE GAMBLER has gameplay elements similar to titles such as SYNTHETIK: Arena and Enter the Gungeon, albeit it’s a much smaller game with minimal features. What makes it standout is its magical dice mechanic that introduces more randomness in every run. It’s a challenging bullet-hell game that rewards good aim, perfectly timed dodges, and clever positioning.

Random and challenging

In true roguelike fashion, THE GAMBLER has randomly generated levels. Every stage will have a different layout and set of enemies, making every run fresh and unpredictable. The core mechanic of the game is its magical dice that dictates the kind of projectile the lizard’s revolver will shoot. The dice has six faces and each face can be replaced using faces looted from crates spread throughout the map.

Every time you shoot, the magical dice is rolled and whatever face it lands on will determine the next type of shot. The player starts with six basic pea shots but they can acquire other faces such as triple shot, shotgun, critical shot, grenade launcher, and double shot. It’s presented in simple yet clean pixel art graphics that fit the gameplay well.

It has a good variety of enemy types — from frog grunts that die in one shot to boss frogs that are harder to take down. Getting hit by a projectile decreases your HP, which is indicated by a health bar. To heal, you need to fill up a gauge by picking up enemy drops. It’s a fun challenge, and while it’s very replayable it lacks any form of customization.

Well-polished roguelike shooter

Those who enjoy roguelike and bullet-hell mechanics will love the challenge offered by THE GAMBLER. The game is recommendable to casual players as it’s easy to learn. The randomness gives it excellent replayability, but the lack of customization options might not be liked by some players. If you’re looking for a well-made roguelike shooter, this one is undoubtedly worth playing.
