Vile adventure against the devil

The Devil is a horror adventure game developed by Catherine Brinegar, along with Aaron Taecker-Wyss, bb Tombo, Flan Falacci, Nic Freeman, and Shane Yach. Here, you will take the role of a lifter—a transient worker picked up by a gargantuan concrete colony vehicle called the Spire. The said Spire suddenly stopped its jaunt to cross over the swamp on pilgrimage as someone went overboard. You will then be tasked to bring him back, so the spire can continue to go onboard. However, as you go deeper into various secluded areas, you will discover the devilish acts that people perform to call their God for help. Only it isn’t their God that answers.

Extremely difficult but cheats are available

Surprisingly, this game stores extra difficult obstacles for you. You can probably always end up running out of time, bullets, heath against tons of demonic enemies. The checkpoint is also too far away that you will find it hard to rush there to escape. Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 3 speedrunners will surely have a blast if they discovered about this game.

Even if you wish to finish this with your own effort, the game just forces you to use the cheat buttons. As mentioned, this creepy atmospheric game often limits you with time, ammo, and health. However, you can overcome them easily by enabling the cheat buttons. If you want to have unlimited health, you only need to press F5. For limitless ammo, click F6. Whenever you want to get your gun or repair it, hit F7. Meanwhile, F9 will enable you to delete save. Note, however, that you must restart your game for these cheat buttons to take effect.

The level design of this horror game is exceptional. Its dodge-weave difficulty makes it impossible for you to win without using the cheats. This somehow lessens the fun in playing the game. Not only that but playing the game also includes a lot of running that could be boring eventually.

Challenging but boring

The Devil contains a solid storyline and a massive and extremely challenging game level design. However, its difficulty can force you to use the cheat buttons, which, in turn, lessen the replayability and satisfaction that the game can give. Ultimately, the continuous running in the game can also tire you.
