The Dark Knight Rises is a paid action role-playing game where you get to play as The Batman himself. Developed by Gameloft, the adventure game lets you travel around Gotham and beat up the bad guys with access to Batman’s arsenal of weapons, gadgets, and vehicles.
Reminiscent of other superhero games like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Dark Knight Rises is also a fun and engaging game adaptation based on a hit movie. This time, however, you put on the cowl and serve justice across the city.

The Dark Knight Rises features iconic images from the film for its menu and loading screens, giving players a feeling of being in control of the movie. It also features simple controls, a joystick on the left side, and a set of action buttons on the right. The action buttons available also change depending on the scenario, such as when you’re on a vehicle.
Another thing that makes this game stand out is the variety of activities available. You not only get to knock out thugs and henchmen, but you also get to travel around an intricately designed Gotham using the “Bat-Pod,” letting you experience the great world-building the developers did here. There are also puzzles that reference Batman as “The World’s Greatest Detective.” These activities create a holistic Batman gaming experience.
While the game delivers great graphics, some elements do not translate well on larger devices that require the display to be stretched. This includes 2D elements like the buttons, which start appearing blurred or pixelated on other devices. The same graphics issue can be seen when looking at certain 2D elements in-game, such as background items you don’t need to interact with.

Despite slight limitations in terms of graphics, The Dark Knight Rises remains a highly recommended gaming experience, especially for the fans of the franchise and Batman as a whole. It gives you a massive Gotham you can travel around in and it allows you to experience the different aspects of being The Dark Knight through the in-game activities available. Also, its simple controls let you enjoy the game immediately.
