Further expanding Isaac’s bindings
The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is the DLC for the popular game. With its now well established formula of roguelike, RPG-action, shoot ’em up, this expansion has you once again delving in Isaac’s murky cellar. Sacrifice yourself to the New Testament of Isaac.
What’s new in the Afterbirth?
The creator of The Binding of Isaac has confirmed that, in Afterbirth, there are over 100 new items, a new game mode based on risk / reward, and an additional main campaign called Greed Mode that comes complete with a new boss.
While that may seem like a fairly standard expansion, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth includes plenty of other content to keep you regularly checking in. These includes dailies, online rankings, 10 different challenges over a thousand different randomly seeded rooms, a monstrous combo upgrade system…
100 hours that you will fly
Look, I know I just slipped in another subheading, but really I am still listing features features: secret transformations, more achievements, secrets of all kinds for the new playable character Lilith, four alternate chapters, even more bosses, and in the developer’s words “more than five functions [I] cannot remember because we are adding so many new things”.
The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth keep the basics and the style of the original game. You have to overcome random dungeons while trying to flee the basement where you are hiding from your mother who intends to sacrifice you to God. If you do not know the game but this has you interested we do offer a warning: do not buy it if you enjoy your social life, because The Binding of Isaac will destroy it.
Afterbirth? More like the terrible 2s…
If you were hooked on the earlier versions, it is hard not to be excited for The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. I do not know if I will ever find time to play the promised 100 hours promised in Afterbirth, but if I get hooked again it is certainly a possibility.
