Distraction-proof text editor
TextRoom is a quiet place to write, free of all the distractions of modern word processors. If you need to get writing but you can’t stop checking emails, reading Twitter and gazing at your wallpaper, this minimal writer is for you.
TextRoom’s all keyboard controlled though, so time to get out your keyboard commands! Ctrl+P will bring up options, so you can choose the colors and fonts you’re most comfortable with. There’s a word count, and you can also set yourself targets.
This is designed with writers in mind – no distractions and minimal options. If what you need to do is just write and nothing else, TextRoom is perfect. While it’s most obvious to run it in full screen mode, you can also use it in windowed mode, although that does kind of miss the point of the no distractions idea!
As mentioned, there are no mouse commands in TextRoom, meaning if you’re not up to speed with keyboard commands it will be a bit difficult to use. Files can only be saved in TXT format, and while this is fine for import into any other program, it does mean that things like font and text size won’t be saved along with your words.
TextRoom is a solid, but basic text writer that will clear your screen of anything that might put you off writing your magnum opus.
