Multiplayer addictive game

As the name suggests, the object of Tank.io is to control a tank with which you shoot down both opponents and any obstacles that might get in your way. The game allows you to upgrade as you play to help you to survive for as long as possible – something that is not always easy in a fast moving environment.

How to Play Tank.io

Simply use the standard keyboard controls (WASD) to move your tank around the playing area in this stimulating overhead view game. Then all you need to do is to operate your mouse in order to aim your shot before firing away to your heart’s content.

The game allows you to develop your skills in a number of ways, so it is more engaging than a mere shoot-em-up. Firstly, you can use your tank to ram as well as shoot. You can also develop more speed at manoeuvring or get faster at reloading. The choice of dodge and shoot or superior gunnery is up to you. Indeed, the chances of your success won’t always come down to the choices you make but those of your opponents, too.

This game relies on fast reactions from players and a good deal of operational skill, but the tactical element of it is just as important which makes it very engaging indeed. In all, you can experiment with eight attributes for your tank. They are; health regeneration, maximising health, body damage, bullet speed, bullet penetration, bullet damage, reload ability and speed over the playing area.

The Game in Detail

The multiplayer playability of Tank.io is just as anyone who has played its predecessors, Slither.io and Agar.io, would expect.

You can end up facing an opponent on the other side of the world. When playing, you can gain points by shooting at objects. The yellow squares in the gaming area offer the least number of points, but aim at the red triangles and you’ll find that a few more points are available. There are also blue pentagons which will yield the greatest amount of points.

By shooting carefully and dodging incoming fire, you will end up with sufficient points to upgrade. This is when you can really decide what is the best tactical path to take. Perhaps you will want to gain more speed across the playing area, or maybe you think augmented bullet penetration will be the best option.

It is definitely worth building up your tank before taking on a superior opponent or you are likely to end up on the losing side. Having said that, the game requires a good deal of player skill, so it you think you are up to it, then there is nothing to stop you taking on tough opposition.

In Summary

This game is addictive. Only play it if you are ready for it to take over your life – for a while, at least. The simple, blocky graphics mean the game usually runs smoothly and is enjoyable at all times, so don’t be put off its retro vibe. That’s the point for many players, anyway.
