Get the most out your Firefox tabs
Any Firefox extension that’s been downloaded over 10 million times from the Mozilla add-ons site can’t be bad. And indeed, Tab Mix Plus impresses as a powerful tab enhancer for the World’s finest web browser.
Tab Mix Plus enhances Firefox’s tab browsing capabilities by allowing actions such as duplicating tabs, controlling tab focus, tab clicking options, undoing closed tabs and windows, and many more.
In particular, Tab Mix Plus features an enhanced session manager that gives you more control over the last tabs you had open in Firefox. When you restart Firefox after installing Tab Mix Plus, you’re asked if you’d like to use Tab Mix Plus as your session manager instead of Firefox and it’s well worth doing.
I liked to fact that you can even control whether links from different applications are opened with different tabs. In fact, the number of tab options Tab Mix Plus presents is a little overwhelming, and you’ll probably only need to use a small percentage of what it can offer.
One other useful feature worth mentioning is the ability to select from a list of your recently-closed tabs which one you’d like to reopen. The only thing I didn’t like was the way it highlighted some of my tabs with a gaudy red text by default. What’s more, you can’t access the preferences by right-clicking on a tab – you have to go in through the add-on manager window.
Despite Mozilla’s enhancements in the latest version of Firefox, Tab Mix Plus still manages to provide some unique tab enhancements that everyone will find useful.
