Swachhata-MoHUA: An App for Citizens to Report Civic Issues

Swachhata-MoHUA is the official app of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), GOI. The app is designed to allow citizens to report civic-related issues such as garbage dumps, uncleaned dustbins, dead animals, and other sanitation-related problems. The app has been developed by Janaagraha, a Bengaluru-based non-profit that aims to improve the quality of life in India’s cities and towns.

To report an issue, users simply need to take a picture of the problem using their smartphone and post it under one of the available categories. The app automatically captures the location of the issue while the picture is being taken. Users can also vote up on any other complaint that they find relevant and receive regular updates on the status of the complaint in the form of push notifications. The app is free to use and available on the iPhone platform.
