Glitzy bullet-hell shooting game for PC
Super Glitter Rush is an action game by tiny cactus studio. It is a 2D bullet-hell shooter with a distinctly colorful design and charming pixel art graphics. In it, players will go against various bosses in 1-on-1 fights using a cast of quirky characters.
Compared to similar games like Cuphead or Enter the Gungeon, Super Glitter Rush offers fast-paced and challenging shoot ’em up action. What makes it stand out from the rest, though, is its unique presentation that tries to mimic the look and feel of classic arcade cabinets of decades past for a unique and nostalgic experience.
Glitter bomb
Super Glitter Rush is basically a boss rush bullet-hell shooter with a unique approach to aesthetics. As you can probably tell from its name, this game features a very vibrant and colorful design and art style. Pair that with a presentation that takes inspiration from classic game cabinets that populated arcades back in the day, and you have for yourself a rather charming title that inhibits plenty of nostalgia.
There are a total of 30 cute bosses to face in Super Glitter Rush. Don’t let their seemingly harmless demeanor fool you, though, as they will dish out plenty of firepower on you during your encounters. Choose from eight quirky characters to fight the baddies with, each with their own unique abilities. Boss fights will feel overwhelming, with bullets coming at you in such tight spaces.
To level the playing field, you have special bullets that catch enemy fire and send it right back to them. The more projectiles you catch, the stronger your counterattacks will be. This mechanic comes with a downside, though, as it can make the whole experience too easy for some players. If you’re new to these types of games, though, this might not be that big of a deal.
Just a fun time
All in all, Super Glitter Rush is a charming shooter that would be perfect for newcomers to the bullet-hell genre. It offers a gameplay that is fun and engaging while not being overly difficult so as to discourage beginners. What’s more, the overall presentation is charming, and that small homage to arcade game cabinets is a nice touch. This is one that pretty much anyone can enjoy. Recommended.
