Storm-tracking app from WCYB-TV
StormTracker 5 is a free weather app for mobile devices coming from Bonten Media Group Holdings Inc. Coming from the American television station, WCYB-TV (Channel 5), it provides users with up-to-date weather forecasts and informs them of any severe thunderstorms that are developing in their city and surrounding areas.
Similar to other apps, such as WillyWeather or BOM Weather, StormTracker 5 serves up extensive and detailed weather information that is neatly organized to help inform users. It also provides multiple map views to let them see the anticipated trajectory that any particular thunderstorm or disturbance could take.
Weather alerts on demand
Getting caught in the rain while outside is never a good thing. More so, if conditions are really bad and there’s a thunderstorm brewing. That is the reason why many people turn to weather forecasts and news to prepare themselves for the possibility of any severe downpour. If you live in the Tri-Cities areas of Tennessee-Virginia, StormTrack 5 is an app that can help you out.
This app has a UI divided into six parts. Starting with Home, where you have forecasts for the day, with information like humidity, wind speeds, and more. If you want a more detailed breakdown of projects, you can do so with the Daily and Hourly tabs, with their charts, and display more details at a glance for a better overview of the situation.
Moving along, the Blog section is where you can check posts about the weather and your area. The same goes for the Video and Web Links section which will direct you to various content sources from all over the web. The whole experience can be rather inconsistent, though. There are times when weather stats don’t update properly or the info itself is a bit inaccurate.
Needs more work
If you live in the Tri-City area, StormTrack 5 would have been a handy tool to have around to stay updated with the weather in your area. It’s easy to use and provides plenty of information. Sadly, the app is just too inconsistent to use reliably. Until the various issues and problems with it are fixed, you’re better off checking other apps instead.
