Survival game set in the desert

Starsand is a premium action title for PC by developer Tunnel Vision Studio. It is a first-person open-world survival game set in the desert. Players will need to contend with harsh conditions to survive and face the various threats that await, such as deadly creatures.

Just like Green Hell or The Forest, Starsand throws players into an inhospitable environment, left to fend for themselves with nothing more than the materials around them to craft items they need to survive. They will also build a base to serve as their home and shelter at night.

Lost in the sand

Starsand takes place in the sands of a desert where you’re a long-distance runner participating in a marathon. However, a sandstorm suddenly hit, separating you from everyone else. Waking up in the middle of nowhere, you start scouting the landscape and look for a way back. You soon realize there’s something not quite right with everything, and you’re not exactly in the same world anymore.

The desert is an unforgiving place, and you will scavenge for water and craft weapons to hunt for food. Build a shelter to stay away from the cold and fortify it against the elements. You look up at the night sky and are dumbfounded by the sight of two moons. This confusion is compounded by the fact that mystical monsters roam about and populate the land.

You’ll also do a fair bit of exploring in this game. Visit multiple locations, solve puzzles, and unlock hidden mysteries that shed some light on the world you find yourself in and how you ended up in it. The only thing to be aware of before you start is that the game is still currently in early access, so it’s not the full game yet.

Survive at all cost

Starsand is a survival game that features a setting that’s not that common in the genre, the desert. Add to that, the clever time-bending premise, and you get a unique experience filled with challenges, mysteries, and deadly foes to defeat. You can check its Steam page for news and updates regarding its full release, which will hopefully come sooner rather than later.
