Jedi vs the Empire
Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions is an adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. It offers a lot of quality content until it forces you to pay.
In a distant demo, far away
You play as a character in Order 66, a group formed by surviving Jedi. Recon Missions takes its cues from Star Wars: Rebels, which takes place between Episode III and Episode IV. Any Star Wars fan will recognize characters in the game.
There are two parts to the game: action and base management.
Most levels require battles with the Empire like dodging bombing runs, shooting Stormtroopers, and finding hidden areas. There is a lot of variety and optional challenges you can try. The more you explore, the more skills and characters you unlock.
Between stages you visit Order 66’s base. You will meet characters you’ve rescued and can manage the base. The more optional challenges you complete, the more unlocks you will receive in your base.
The problem with Star Wars Rebels: Recon Mission is that it doesn’t explain that it’s just a demo. When you finish the fourth level, you have to pay to unlock the rest of the game.
If you don’t know whether it’s worth paying for the game, the full version does have a lot of gameplay.
Visual quality
The graphics are impressive considering the game is marketed towards younger players. There’s always something happening on the screen, whether it’s an explosion or Jedi powers. Rebel Missions does require a powerful device or the framerate suffers.
Controls in the game actually work well. Even with touchscreen controls, it was easy to use the controls and not die from a lack of polish.
Waiting until December
Star Wars Revels: Recon Missions has the same quality as other recent Star Wars games like Star Wars: Commmander. It’s long and full of action. The only main problem is that the game is a demo with an in-app purchase to unlock everything.
It does give us something to do while we wait for The Force Awakens.
