Explore another game’s map
Star Wars Battlefront II – EA’s Battlefront Maps Mod is a free video game utility that allows you to add new maps to the popular action game, Star Wars Battlefront II. Developed by UniverseDesconocido, this mod aims to expand the playable areas of the game. However, the development of this is slow and only one map has been released so far—still in its beta phase.
The problem with originals and reboots
Star Wars: Battlefront II is a 2005 first and third-person shooter video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by LucasArts—not to be confused by the 2017 reboot of the same name but developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts. It is based on the Star Wars film franchise and is the sequel to 2004’s Star Wars: Battlefront. Similar to the movies and other games, the game spans over dozens of locations.
However, the rebooted version showcases maps and locations that aren’t available in this original version, whether for the main story campaign or the multiplayer mode. Fortunately, you can always use mods that are meant for additional map content. There are dozens of these available and one of these is EA’s Battlefront Maps, which aims to add the 2017 reboot’s maps to this 2005 game.
One example is the Scarif location. In the reboot, the location there was included in the Rogue One expansion pack and update, based on the spin-off film of the same name. However, the reboot’s location map was Scarif Beach. This mod adds the Scarif: Shield Gate map instead, featuring the space battle shown in the movie. The graphics are similar to the original design and AI fighter pilots also spawn in.
Try the others first
Star Wars Battlefront II – EA’s Battlefront Maps Mod surprisingly looks great for a beta version. However, the mod’s plans for more of the reboot’s maps are still not finished. Only the Scarif map was released and you’ll have to keep an eye on the mod to see any updates on any more finished locations. Overall, it might be better to look at other map mods.
