A story-rich JRPG set in a sci-fi environment
Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope – 4K & Full HD Remaster is a story-rich game that falls into the Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) genre. It takes place in a sci-fi setting where the earth has been decimated by a third world war, and humanity has now turned to the stars in search of a new home.
One of the most obvious comparisons to make when dealing with JRPGs is a Final Fantasy game, such as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. However, the theme of the game and the world that it’s set in is somewhat closer to games like Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition.
Humanity’s flight to the stars
Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope – 4K & Full HD Remaster takes place after the earth has been ravaged by World War III and humanity has fled their dying planet in search of a new one. The player will go on missions where they will encounter enemies and allies among the alien races.
Turn-based combat
As would be expected from a JRPG game, Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope – 4K & Full HD Remaster features turn-based combat and exploration elements. The player will visit many locations — from alien worlds to spaceships — and battle with a host of hostile aliens in the process.
A good remaster that suffers slightly
Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope – 4K & Full HD Remaster brings the original game to modern machines with features like support for 4K displays. Unfortunately, it suffers a little because of its age, as some story elements and twists are quite predictable now, which wouldn’t have been when the game was originally released.
