Destroy all hornets!
Spider: Hornet Smash is an action arcade spin-off of the 2010 IGF award-winning adventure Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor. But there’s no adventuring in this game, just fast-paced, insect versus arachnid war!
With lovely hand-drawn graphics and really cool music, Spider: Hornet Smash impresses from the moment it starts. The controls are introduced over two screens, and while they may seem complex, as soon as you begin playing, they make sense perfectly.
The physics of the game are great. You walk, jump and spin webs to move around the levels, attacking wave after wave of hornets. The way Spider moves is fantastic, and almost beautiful to watch! Periodically hornets will make nests, and if you disturb one, angry attacking hornets fly out, and are much harder to deal with!
Spider: Hornet Smash is a high score chasing game at heart, as it doesn’t have an end until Spider dies, but with local and global high score tables, there’s plenty of competition available!
While this really is a well-produced, if simple arcade game, if you’re scared of spiders or hornets you won’t enjoy Spider: Hornet Smash. The sound effects and drawings may be a little too realistic for some people!
Spider: Hornet Smash has great graphics and sound alongside innovative and fun gameplay. Get those swarming hornets!
