Combine roleplaying and strategy in SpellForce 3
SpellForce 3 is a fantasy role-playing game that incorporates real-time strategy elements to create a unique hybrid. In the single-player campaign, you create a character and embark on a quest, exploring the world of Eo as you go. Along the way, you’ll upgrade your hero with new skills and abilities, as well as new equipment. You’ll also recruit an army and fight battles with it, bringing in the RTS element.
Return to Eo — or visit for the first time
If you’ve played a previous SpellForce game, you’ll find many aspects of SpellForce 3 familiar. Developers Grimlore Games, however, aren’t counting on you having done so. That’s probably a wise decision considering that 8 years separate the releases of the second and third games in the series. The plot, therefore, doesn’t require any previous knowledge of the setting of Eo or its characters, although hardcore fans will find that their knowledge gives them some additional perspective. In addition to the main single-player campaign, there are cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes for you to take your heroes and armies into battle. Graphically, the game resembles a strategy game more than an RPG, with a top view that emphasises the layout of its locations rather than the appearance of characters.
Quest and battle
If the idea of a combined RPG and RTS game appeals to you, you should give SpellForce 3 a look.
