An advanced Bayesian spam filter
Just because you’re using a Mac doesn’t mean you’re immune to spam. Luckily SpamSweep will help you protect your inbox from all the unwanted junk mail that’s out there.
Thanks to an advanced Bayesian filter, SpamSweep keeps your inbox well protected. What’s more, you can configure how often your accounts are filtered and when to receive notifications.
Set the mail client you use (up to seven to choose from, including Thunderbird, Apple Mail and Eudora) and what accounts you wish to filter to get it up and running.
Just in case SpamSweep also supports IMAP accounts.
SpamSweep’s interface is a little basic, yet it lets you quickly identify spam emails and separate them from clean messages.
While you can sort mail by sender and subject, it’s a shame that you can not view messages by mail size. We liked being able to quickly switch by account though, and the little search box to quickly find specific email.
The best function of SpamSweep is probably being able to create custom filters. This will help you not only block out recurring spam messages but also identifying email that you absolutely never want to be marked as spam.
You’ll also be able to create a sender white list for extra precaution. Whenever a message is marked as spam you’ll get a little summary box about who the sender is, if the domain or relay have been blacklisted and what the Bayesian score is.
Spam messages can be deleted afterwards, or you can set SpamSweep up so it automatically trashes any spam message it finds. One little nag we had with it is that it only offers up two hotkeys to work with.
SpamSweep is an advanced bayesian spam filter with a simple, easy to understand interface. SpamSweep seamlessly combines many filtering technologies, including domain and relay blacklists, sender whitelisting, and a bayesian filter to automatically delete spam messages before they’re downloaded by your email client.
