Space Marshals 2 is a thinking gamer’s shooter
Space Marshals 2 is a top-down shooter that focuses more on stealth and tactical thinking than fast-paced action. As specialist Burton, you’ll battle your way through 20 levels of enemies, using cover, stealth and knowledge of your environment to get the drop on your targets.
Compelling tactical action
If you’ve played Pixelbite’s previous game in the series, Space Marshals 2 won’t come as much of a surprise to you. As in the first game, planning and equipment choice are important; the types of weapons and gear you assign to Burton will change his battlefield role completely. Even if you decided to take the frontal-assault approach, intelligent use of your technology will help you to victory. The game’s levels are larger than the previous game, with more use of vertical space, which adds interesting tactical complexity. There are also neutral factions wandering the levels; these forces can serve as allies if you provoke your targets into fighting them. Graphics are polished, colourful and easy to parse, which is important in a game where positioning and tactics matter as much as they do here. The dual-stick controls are simple, and the app supports gamepads.
Set your sights on a bad guy today
If you enjoy shooters but would rather plan an infiltration than go in guns balzing, Space Marshals 2 is well worth your time and attention.
