Free Virtual Software Replacement for Sony Remote Controls
Sony Virtual Remote Control is an application which acts as a digital replacement in the event that the original unit has been lost or damaged. All standard remote control functions are supported and this version has included the “jump” button that is not present on certain Sony devices. Sony Virtual Remote Control can be downloaded for free.
Sony virtual remote control is a total replacement for Sony Remote Keyboard, but it runs on Win XP too, and implements all the functions that a normal remote control supports. Moreover the Jump (previous channel) button missing on new Sony Remote controllers is also implemented.
The program is tested on Sony 2011 Bravia TV line, but perhaps supports other Sony devices that implement IRCC over UPnP (wired or wireless connection and proper network setup required).
The IRCC commands are fully configurable, and with the help of the program (right click context menu) you can query your device for supported commands.
You can use the program with your mouse, but most of the commands are available on your keyboard too.
I don’t know any similar software on the market besides Sony’s remote keyboard. But Sony’s offering works only on Windows 7 and up, only with keyboards, and misses many function that this software knows.
This software is for users who owns a Sony bravia TV or other Sony device that supports IRCC over UPnP, and want to remotely control their devices over their home network.
