Sonic takes us back to the future… again
Sonic CD was a version of the original Sonic but with graphics and gameplay. Now we get a remake of the remake, the definitive version of the classic 1993.
Sonic over the AGES
Sonic CD was originally published in 1993 for the Mega CD console (and later for PC). It was an expanded and improved version of classic Mega Drive / Genesis version of Sonic the Hedgehog. More than two decades later we get an adaptation for mobile.
Thus, Sonic CD includes the original levels of the first Sonic game with a twist: jumps between the past and future to recover the Time Stones that regulate the time. Sonic must thwart Dr. Eggman, who is trying to dominate the world once more.
Sonic CD is a carbon copy of the original game including the ability to play as Sonic’s friend Tails once you’ve finished the main quest. But like any adaptation, it does bring something new…
Improved graphics and a big surprise for fans!
Sonic CD for iOS has improved graphics and gameplay well (though not perfectly) adapted to touchscreen controls. But there is one huge bonus for true Hedgehog fans, SEGA has included the original Japanese soundtrack for the game, not the American version that was included in the Western version of the game which no one seemed to like.
In addition to these technical improvements, Sonic CD includes a time trial mode for you to compete with your friends to see who is the fastest through levels.
The best edition for fans
Sonic CD is a full version of the classic 1993 game: not only is everything in the game, but Sonic and company look better than ever… and you can enjoy the Japanese OST as it was originally intended.
