Wake up with a selfie
Do you find it difficult to get up in the morning? Joining the many attempts at solving this problem comes Snap Me Up. When your alarm rings, there’s no stopping it until you prove you’re awake: by taking a selfie.
Blurry eyes, sharp focus
Snap Me Up works pretty much like any alarm app. You can set alarm times, repetitions, and choose your ring tone and so on. Navigating the interface is easy, and everything works as you would expect. But when the alarm rings, you have to take a selfie, and the alarm is good at recognizing if you’re trying to cheat or not. You can’t just hit the shutter button and take a photo of the ceiling, as the alarm won’t stop until it thinks it’s looking at a face. The developers also say it’s a great way to see what you look like just after you wake up!
Also works for naps
You can actually turn off the selfie requirement, and use Snap Me Up like a normal alarm. You can also set it to wake you up with an alarm and a random picture from your phone’s library, which could be an attractive idea or not! There’s a ‘take a nap‘ feature, which is essentially a timer, with all the same features as the main alarm.
Snap Me Up is free and ad-supported, but the developers say there will soon be an in-app purchase option to turn off the ads. As it stands, ads are averagely intrusive. Nothing unusual, but it’d be nicer not to have them there.
Alarming alternative
Snap me up is a fun app, and a neat approach to waking up in the morning. If you can face seeing a photo of yourself when you open your eyes, check it out!
