Battle online with Smashbox Arena
Smashbox Arena is a VR team shooter that focuses on 3v3 arena matches. The mechanics are simple, but this game uses them to produce interesting tactical challenges that result in tense team-based gameplay.
The future is zappy
In Smashbox Arena, you play a contestant in a futuristic arena deathmatch. The game’s challenges come from the limitations of your abilities. Your weapon can only fire once before you have to reload it, shields take one hit and then have to be picked up from the arena floor, and movement is teleportation-based, requiring you to throw a teleporter onto the location. Being able to predict player movement combines with the equipment system to create combat that’s based on teamwork and anticipating your enemies’ moves rather than on fast action. In this way, Smashbox Arena turns the limitations of PSVR into an engaging mechanic. The game features both single-player and multi-player modes, but the real meat is in the online, team-based multiplayer, where the simple mechanics produce interesting tactical challenges. Graphics are simple but effective.
A fun and surprisingly deep team shooter
Smashbox Arena can take a little time to learn, but once you’ve mastered it you’ll be rewarded with a simple team shooter that produces surprisingly deep gameplay.
