Conquer the skies in the free action game
Sky Fighters 3D is a free action mobile video game wherein you get to pilot a fighter aircraft. Developed by Doodle Mobile Ltd., this 3D airplane game features over 40 combat missions, over 10 realistic-looking airplanes, and immersive third-person POV gameplay.
Similar to Air Battle 3D : Ace of Legend, Sky Fighters 3D lets you pilot fighter planes and battle other planes and war machines. However, take note that this is an offline game; it doesn’t feature online multiplayer so you can’t compete against other players. Plus, it doesn’t really have a story campaign for you to follow.
Right into the thick of it
In Sky Fighters 3D, you’re immediately dropped into a tutorial, which is easy enough to follow as it walks you through the controls during your first battle. The default controls give you a virtual joystick but you can switch this to tilt controls and even turn Invert Y-axis on and off. You only have two weapons: a machine gun and missiles that regenerate ammo after a while.
Your missions usually have three victory conditions that will award you stars based on your performance. Each level deducts two points of energy or power from you — and this recharges after a set amount of time. Completing missions rewards you with EXP and coins, which you can use to buy and upgrade your planes — although some purchases require gems instead, which is a premium currency.
Aside from the main campaign that strangely has no storyline, you can also take on Challenges. There are four modes to choose from: Team Deathmatch, Defend the Base, Free for All, and Survival. These have bigger rewards but are harder in difficulty and require you to finish certain levels first to unlock them. However, these are only single-player modes and there is no option for multiplayer.
A solo ride
All in all, Sky Fighters 3D is a decent offline game if you like fighter jet gameplay and challenging yourself in different modes. It’s free to play and, unlike most games of that nature, its ads aren’t intrusive. However, the main campaign doesn’t have a story you can follow so it can be a bit boring. Plus, there’s no option to do online multiplayer combat.
