Get to your destination with this navigation app
Sila is a free travel and navigation app from the Ministry of Transport Communications which allows you to find your way around Qatar. This map can be used to find the best routes to your destination based on your preferred mode of transportation.
Sila works similarly to Google Maps, which also finds routes based on your mode of transport. However, the latter only allows you to stick to one transport mode, whereas the former allows you to integrate multiple vehicle options into your route to find the quickest way to your destination.
Catch the next tram or bus
One of Sila’s strongest selling points is its ability to seamlessly create a route to your desired location by making use of the various public transportation options available in Qatar. These modes of transport include the metro, buses, trams, and taxis. As previously mentioned, the route created will integrate the quickest modes of transport. You can even check how long it’ll take for you to get to your final stop.
Another notable feature of this navigation app is that it also features a timetable where you can check for the frequency of vehicle arrivals. This can be quite helpful as the app allows you to plan future trips. These trips will be able to notify you of the best times to leave your home or starting point so that you can get to your destination on time.
You also have the ability to book taxis from within the app, so you don’t need to flag one down yourself. The app also shows you a list of events in the country that you can attend, including sporting and entertainment events. Something to note, though, is that the app does not account for traffic, which can delay your arrival.
A must-have tool
Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s a great idea to have Sila in your arsenal in case you want to figure out the quickest ways to reach your destination on time. However, it doesn’t notify you of traffic concerns that could delay your trip. Still it features a good number of transportation modes that you can switch to.
