Shuba Duck is the very definition of Roblox experiences borne simply out of a need to either capitalize on or glorify meme culture. For those not familiar with Shuba Duck, it is essentially the meme of a dancing animated duck. The duck has a backwards baseball cap on and simply dances by moving its body from side to side.
The duck was inspired by Oozora Subaru, an influencer on Hololive who is often likened to a duck due to her raspy voice. The duck was named Shuba Duck for the sound that Subaru makes when excited – a sound that can be represented as the vocalization of the word ‘Shuba.’
Nothing to do
If you’re looking for a fun game full of exciting gameplay mechanics and tons to do, this is not the experience for you. Apart from taking place on a tiny Lego-esque island, there quite literally is nothing to do. The sum total of what you can do in the game is communicate with other players via the Roblox in-game chat function, walk around pretending to be a duck, and type ‘/e hey’ to do the Shuba. You can also type in ‘/e switch’ if you no longer want to be a duck. That’s it.
Pointless
Other than its position as a glorification of one particular meme, Shuba Duck is a largely pointless experience. If you don’t like standing around talking to strangers, dancing in one spot, or wandering around a tiny island, this is not the game for you.
However, if those ideas appeal to you greatly, then Shuba Duck is probably a worthwhile experience for you to try out.
