Sholo Guti – Bead 16 Game for Android from Little Ninja
Sholo Guti – Bead 16 Game is a board game played in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and some South Asian countries. It is a traditional Indian board game, and one of the best-known games in the region. In this game, players take turns moving their pieces or “guti” by jumping them across the board. Each starts with 16 pieces, but must start the game with four “home” pieces (which are placed at the start of the game on a row of four empty “home” squares on the board). When one player has captured all the pieces of the other player, that player wins. The winner is the one who captures the opponent’s home pieces first, or the one who has captured all of the opponent’s pieces first.
There are four possible moves for each piece: forward one square, backward one square, left or right one square. If a piece can move to a square that is already occupied, then the piece stays on that square and the player who moved it places it on the square where it lands. After each move, players may “jump” their pieces or the piece to the next empty square. Players are allowed to move their pieces in any direction, not just forward or backward. This rule, called the “king rule,” encourages players to develop more strategic thinking than in chess.
