Roguelike Shadow Fight game
Shades: Shadow Fight Roguelike is a free action game for mobile by developer NEKKI. It is a new entry to the popular Shadow Fight series of fighting games. It’s a direct sequel to Shadow Fight 2 and picks up where the story left off, having players continue their martial arts journey.
Compared to the previous Shadow Fight 2 game, Shade: Shadow Fight Roguelike differentiates itself from the series by incorporating roguelike elements into its gameplay. Other notable additions include more locations to visit, new enemies to face, and more Shades to collect and use during fights.
Now with roguelike elements
The Shadow Fight series has been around for quite some time now and has made a name for itself as one of the best fighting games for mobile with its unique art style and martial arts themes. Each new iteration brings more refined controls and more abilities called Shades to collect and use in your fights. With Shades: Shadow Fight Roguelike, the devs are taking the franchise in a new direction.
As its name suggests, this game takes cues from the ever-popular roguelike genre to offer players something different than ever before. You will go on Shadow Rifts that have appeared all across the globe, and you’re tasked with closing them all. However, every attempt will be unique as you’ll get a random fighter for each run. Master your abilities to defeat each opponent and complete your mission.
This time around, there’s a whole roster of new enemies who are standing in your way to face and defeat. However, there are new Shades to collect to help you with the tough battles ahead. Combine and create synergies for devastating attacks and abilities. Unfortunately, the game suffers from performance issues, particularly, frame rate drops, which adversely affect gameplay during intense fights.
A unique entry to the series
If you’re a fan of the Shadow Fight series of games and are looking for something different to try out, Shades: Shadow Fight Roguelike will fit the bill. It brings the same nice art style and fluid combat but adds the unpredictable and challenging nature of roguelikes to the mix. It’s a different direction from previous releases, but it works. Give it a try and see for yourself.
