Civilization management simulator
Armed with exciting possibilities and low-polygonal graphics reminiscent of games like Lonely Mountains: Downhill, Settlement Survival is a promising 3D management simulation gameplay that hands over the responsibility of helping a civilization thrive to its players. From shaping the landscape and dealing with disasters to trading — it’s all in your hands.
Inspired by other survival games like Banished, Settlement Survival ups the ante by focusing on the nitty-gritty details of raising a civilization, like having to deal with the changing seasons, managing the population, reshaping the landscape, focusing on different development aspects, and more.
Balance the resources and master different routes
In Settlement Survival, you get to play as the one who will bring prosperity to the civilization. Before that, however, you have to start from scratch — first, you must scout the map for the most ideal spot of your settlement. Reshape the area and add bodies of water accordingly, too. Each map gets generated randomly, so you get a new and challenging landscape every time you want to start over.
Once settled, you then have to guide your citizens to ultimate opulence and comfort. The beginning will kick off with a medieval vibe, and you have to build homes for the people, recruit Mayors to influence the city’s morality, and ensure that the most essential resources are abundant. Special events like natural disasters or historical moments happen often as well, and your decisions regarding these will highly affect your settlement’s future.
There are different trade routes to explore, with each unlocking new types of buildings and abilities. You can certainly go for all the routes during your game, as there’s no mandatory order to be followed. Although, this game isn’t free from drawbacks — some of these include having way too many icons on the screen to the point of overwhelming as well as frequent bugs and glitches.
A great and high-stakes management simulator
Overall, Settlement Survival is a competent management simulator. The stakes are high and there’s a plethora of engaging aspects to keep players hooked, such as the random events, varied development routes, and the player’s attempt to keep the population and resources balanced. Each map is randomly generated and highly customizable, posing a challenging start every time a new settlement is born.
