Multiplayer running game

Scuttlers is a multiplayer asymmetric platformer game from Open Mid Interactive. This is a casual racing game that pits multiple players against one another. Your goal as the runner is to reach the end of the map, while the assigned leader tries to stop you.

Scuttlers supports up to eight players, making it a good party game. There is also a solo offline mode. Note, however, that, unlike other online multiplayer games, the server list is empty. Your friends need to be online to play in multiplayer mode.

Run or block

Scuttlers is a running game that is fun to play with family and friends. Here, players take on the role of the Runner or the Leader. If you are a runner, your goal is to reach the end of the map as fast as possible. However, if you are the leader, your task is to do everything to stop the runners from reaching the goal.

Both runners and the leader can cast abilities, including meteors, wind gusts, and mines. Moreover, there are crystals you can pick up. These crystals grant temporary boosts like heals and shields. Note, however, that aside from the leader, the handcrafted map also comes with different types of traps and obstacles to stop you from winning the race. Your score will then depend on your performance during the race.

The game supports two to eight players in the multiplayer online mode. There is also a solo offline mode. However, the server in the online mode is empty. With this, you cannot play with random players. You and your friends need to be online to play together. There are also no checkpoints in the game. If you die, you will start from the beginning.

Fun but looks empty

All in all, Scuttlers offers a refreshing take on the casual running game. The gameplay is simple, made more challenging by the obstacles and the leader stopping you from reaching your goal. However, with that said, the game does not offer much, in terms of features and variety, unlike other full releases. It also doesn’t help that its community is relatively small.
