Manage Facebook, MySpace and Orkut from your desktop
If you have an account on Facebook, Orkut or MySpace, you’ll have noticed that these services can be quite time consuming. That’s why it’s probably a good idea to use a tool like Scrapboy.
With Scrapboy you can manage your user accounts in those three social networks – Facebook, Orkut and MySpace – from one single interface, without having to log into the three separate websites from your web browser. You can check your contacts’ status, review personal messages, browse photos, update your profile… pretty much everything you can do online.
With Scrapboy you can also subscribe to individual feeds (wall posts, scraps, photos, comments, etc.) so that you stay on top of everything that’s going on with your friends).
While the idea behind Scrapboy is great – being able to manage all your social profiles from one place – I think the program could still be enhanced a lot, especially in interface design and usability. It looks like they didn’t devote too much development resources to those areas.
Scrapboy also features a desktop notification system that displays a small pop-up window on the bottom right corner every time you get a new message or one of your contacts goes online. However, if you have too many contacts this can get too distracting and annoying.
Scrapboy lets you manage your user accounts in Facebook, Orkut and MySpace from a single interface, but still needs some enhancement in terrms of usability and interface design.
