Classic Point and Click Adventure Rethought
Rusty Lake: Roots is a point and click style game, an adventure which focuses on plot and ambiance to create a lasting impression on gamers. In this second outing, James Vanderbloom travels through his home and garden to unravel the mystery of a strange seed.
An Old Classic
With a play style more associated with early 90’s DOS games, Rusty Lake: Roots brings back a classic style which works surprisingly well. The single-click style of controls shines on small screens and avoids the pitfalls of more complex methods. Sound design and the overall aesthetic, while simple, suit the setting and build a world that has become something of a sleeper hit. The game features an exciting and addictive plot which remains easy to drop in and out of despite the complex design.
For the Fans
It may be something of a gamble to buy a premium adventure game that relies so heavily on a style of games unfamiliar to most. Fans of old point and click adventures like King’s Quest will feel right at home but if you are a fan of enthralling adventure games in general, Rusty Lake: Roots may be worth a try. Unfortunately, there is no demo or free version to try at the moment however.
