Platforming party game

Runbow is an action game by 13AM Games. It is a nine-player platformer game where you and your friends get together for a foot race. The goal is to reach the end of each race and collect the trophy first. You will need to attack the other members using melee strikes, butt stomps, and power-ups to prevent them from besting you.

As a party game, Runbow contains a lot of multiplayer modes. It also allows players to play both locally and online. It also offers an ample amount of single-player content for those who wish to play the game solo.

What is Runbow?

The premise of Runbow involves up to nine players in a foot race. Your task is simple: run and reach the end before your friends do. However, while you do, try not to fall down or get steamrolled in the way. As an additional challenge, the background constantly changes color, and various objects and platforms appear or disappear according to their respective hue.

The races can be downright chaotic as the individual courses are cleverly designed. Some even test your platforming prowess. However, some power-ups are available, giving players a slight advantage to win the race. There are also different multiplayer modes, including King-of-the-Hill mode, which tasks you to stand at a designated point for a time. There’s also an Arena mode, which will have you aim to be the last player standing.

At the core, Runbow is a multiplayer game. However, you can also play it solo by going against bots. Doing so is a bit of a deal-breaker though as it is very lacking. Thankfully, there are solo game modes that you can play. This includes the Adventure mode, where black and white characters feel a bit left out of all the fun and colors going on with the characters.

Is the game good?

Overall, Runbow is a game made to play with friends. It offers an insanely exciting action game and various game modes. The controls are easy to pick up, but it requires a surprising amount of strategy and tactics. However, the single-player modes are not as fun as the multiplayer ones. The lack of bots makes it a bit frustrating to play solo.
