Metroidvania game for PC

Ruin Valley is a free action game created by indie developer Pavel Shibaev that is available now to play on PC. It is a 2D platformer that was inspired by Metroidvania games, known for their fast-paced and challenging gameplay that tests players’ gaming skills.

Similar to other games that were inspired by the genre, such as Celeste or Dead Cells, Ruin Valley features the same pixel-style art and graphics in its design. Its polished look and smooth animations are quite an impressive feat considering it’s an indie release and was done by a single developer.

How do I play Ruin Valley?

Ruin Valley is a game shrouded in mystery. There’s no backstory or introduction to tell you what it’s all about. Instead, you immediately awaken inside what appears to be a dungeon and you take control of a character clad in purple—a recurring color theme throughout the game. You will start exploring from the get-go and figure out where you are and what happened to you.

You use the Left and Right arrow keys for movement. and the Up key to interact with objects. Press Z to jump (or double jump), C to attack, X to dash mid-air or roll, and A for a ranged shot. There are various enemies scattered throughout, such as skeletons or bats that drop coins for you to collect. Also, there are crates and hidden chests that give you more coins or weapons for your mysterious journey.

In addition, there are traps laid everywhere for you to avoid like spikes, swinging blades, and other obstacles. At the end of each level, will be a boss enemy that you need to defeat to move on to the next stage. If everything up to this point seems so cryptic, that’s because Ruin Valley is just a demo for now. The game is still in the early stages of development, and there are still plenty of things that will change in future updates.

A promise indie Metroidvania game

Despite being just a demo, Ruin Valley is already showing signs of promise and potential. It’s already quite polished for a showcase piece and the gameplay is also just as good. If this is anything to go by, this game will be worth looking out for and playing when it finally releases a finished product. Recommended.
