An action-adventure game set at the end of the Dark Ages
Rogue Reaper is a free game in which the player takes on the role of the daughter of the Grim Reaper, who is looking to relieve her father’s workload during this particularly busy period. Rogue Reaper is an action-adventure game that involves making use of mobility to get through a number of small scenarios, including obstacles and enemies.
The game features a lot of traversal gameplay, similar to that seen in games like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Unlike those games, however, there is a stamina component to the gameplay.
Trying times for the Grim Reaper
The Dark Ages was a particularly rough period for Western Europe, and many died as civilization climbed out of the darkness. This presents a difficult time for the Grim Reaper, who has to harvest all of these souls. In an effort to make his life easier, his daughter steps in, and it is this character that the player will take control of.
Traversal gameplay
The main focal point of Rogue Reaper’s gameplay is the ability to move around the environment in a wide variety of ways, such as jumping, running, wall-running, and more. The player must solve puzzles, deal with enemies, and find their way through a number of small scenarios to achieve their goals. Limited stamina also forces the player to be strategic with their movements.
An interesting but short game
The various game mechanics and alternative history settings make Rogue Reaper an interesting prospect, especially for players interested in this period of history. However, the game is more of a passion project than a real game. As such, it is quite short and feels unrefined in places.
